New Puppy

Well, James and I have been talking about getting a new puppy shortly after we lost Tank. Today was the day! I went to the pound on my lunch break and came back with one.

He's 8 weeks old and is a pit bull and hound mix. He's a really pretty brindle coloring. I think he will make the perfect addition to our family!

Hemp Happy

Well, I decided to start putting my jewelry on here starting with the smallest group: HEMP! I love working with hemp. Not only is it a natural product to use, but it's really easy to work with. These hemp pieces are brand new, which is why they look stiff and misshaped. Hemp needs to be worn in order to break it in. The best way, believe it or not, is to wear it in the shower. The soap and water help to speed up the process.

Devil Bird

Most mornings, I enjoy sitting down with my coffee and seeing the birds outside. Although they make such a mess out of my porch they are really relaxing to watch. I have one bird, however, that I despise.
For over a month now, this stupid male cardinal has been harassing us. I know it sounds crazy, but every morning when I wake up he's sitting on the porch staring at me. While I'm at the computer he dive bombs the window, and I know that it's not because it's clean. He's left smudges and little beak marks all over the place. He will even sit on the side mirror of my car and star at the window and poop all over the side of it. Seriously? I think this bird has some plan for driving me crazy. My cat always looks longingly and does that weird little chatter noise. He's making us all crazy! Any ideas on how to make him go away?

Crazy Cacti

Most of the time when you think of the word "cactus" you think of those giant ones in the desert or of the simple aloe houseplant. During this Memorial Day, however, I went shopping and found some really bazaar looking ones. Although some of them are technically succulents, I still classify them in the cactus family.

This one is by far the weirdest looking one to me. It's called a split rock succulent. You can't really see but in the spit there is another little sprig of something.
I can't remember the names of these next ones, but the pink one is by far my favorite of these.
This next one looks like a normal aloe plant, but if you look close, the spines are pink. The picture on the right is the flower coming off of the top of the aloe. I've never seen an aloe bloom with such a pretty and distinct flower.

Amateur Photography

During my adventures at Kirtland, I decided to take a photography class. I was worried with the snowy blanket that covered the many colors beneath, that I would be unable to take any great pictures. I was wrong. Although I was freezing, I journeyed around our property taking pictures as I went. The results turned out surprisingly well.

April Showers Bring May Flowers

This year's spring has been quite a bit colder than last year. I haven't even bought most of my annuals for this year yet. So far the biggest surprise is the blooming of my magnolia tree. James bought it for me last year, and it was a pitiful little shrub. I couldn't believe that it even came up this year. I've also planted my ever famous toilet out by the road. I know I know, it's a little redneck, but I get a kick out of it every year.

All of the tulips are fading, the daffodils drooping, and I sit on my porch coffee in hand. The smell of the newly blooming lilacs remind me that there is always something new to each day of the season.
May the wind be always at your back, the sun shine upon your face, and the rain fall softly on your fields.

Getting Started

Well, this whole blogging this is pretty new to me. Try and bare with me as I try to get this up and running. I've been trying to get my various craft projects out there for people to view, buy, and/or enjoy. I love to work with my hand to create something beautiful. Jewelry is my specialty, but I also create other various thing: pillows, scarves, etc. I've recently finished school for my RN and with the extra time I've accumulated will hopefully help me to be able to get this up and rolling. Stay with me for further updates and the MANY pictures to come.
